Worldwide Marriage Encounter begins with a weekend for a married Christian couple, preferably a couple that has been in the marriage for over three years and who value their relationship and desire a richer, fuller life together. This is followed by six follow-up sessions that cement the great weekend encounter. A couple thereafter receives a completion certificate, joins the weekend seminar cell and the couples local church cell. This is “Birds of a feather flocking together” kind of companionship.

The emphasis of Worldwide Marriage Encounter is on communication between a husband and his wife, and the two are emphatically made aware of the importance of each other. They are also shown to appreciate each other in the midst of the distractions and the tensions of everyday life.
