Missionary Youth Movement (MYM)

Matthew 18:14 So it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish.

Vision

To reach out to 13-17 in a way that unites their interest and carries them to the salvation of Christ Jesus.

Mission

Having the team come together voluntarily, identify their team spiritual activities that brings them together and builds them for Christ.

This age is energy filled, cheerful, exciting in its ambitious journey towards adulthood. There is need to take this energy, this cheer, this innocent zeal and package it for Christ with as much effort as the Parish could master. It is with this idea that in 2015 the leadership of St Patrick along with the Catechist sat down and agreed to form this junior youth group which they called PMY, Pontifical Missionary Youth. The name was derived from Pontifical Missionary Children  (PMC).  The idea gained support from the Parish Priest Fr Sean by then, who later took the idea to the Parish and the PMY group became one more Parish church group. Initial activities included inviting an older PMY group from a Parish in Githurai to help set up a good background for growth. The next important activity was the team’s leadership elections that were held closely after. The team had identified a patron couple who provided much of the needed guidance and link between the parents and the team later had a name change as advised by Fr Sean to Missionary Youth Movement (MYM).

It is now a time to thank the Almighty that the groups activities are attended by not less than 50 members and at times jump up to 120 members.

Let all children come to me, Jesus tells us in the Gospel of Matthew. The Parish has thus heeded this important call
